We are in the process off performing a hardware upgrade on Server 12 at this time and some services may be temporarily unavailable. We do not anticipate this taking more than an hour and will post an update here once completed.

Update: The upgrade has been completed. We do not anticipate any additional downtime.

Server 12 is in the process of being shut down for emergency maintenance at this time. We expect the server to be back up within the next 15-20 minutes.

Update: The server is back up at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation but don’t anticipate any further issues at this time.

Our engineers have received an early warning alert from onboard sensors on server 9 that some components need to be tested; at this time, we are rebooting the machine and exchanging the system board and other components so that we can continue to insure maximum reliability from the server. This procedure should take only a few minutes, and website service will be restored shortly. No further issues are expected from server 9 after this maintenance is completed; Thank you for your patience during this process.

Server 9 required a reboot at approximately 2:00am EST; the reboot was completed within a few minutes and no further issues are expected. All websites and email services are online and functional at this time.

Servers 8 and 9 were rebooted as of approximately 6:30am EST for power supply upgrades; the reboot procedure was completed approximately 10 minutes later and no further issues have been noted. All websites and email service are online and working properly at this time.

We have had a small number of customers report that they are unable to access major portions of the Internet today, including our company website and their sites hosted with us, as well as sites hosted elsewhere. According to Internet Pulse, a third party that monitors the status of major ISP’s backbone connections, AT&T (who provides service for many home internet services in the Midwest, including Comcast) is reporting problems with their backbone connection at this time which is causing these issues. This means that customers of Comcast or other ISP’s who partner exclusively with AT&T may not be able to access many websites across the internet until the issue is resolved by AT&T.

Our hosting network and upstream providers are not experiencing any issues, and our servers continue to run without any problems. If you are using one of these providers and are unable to access portions of the Internet as expected today, please contact your ISP for a status update. Again, there are no issues with our hosting network at this time, and we will attempt to update this courtesy posting if we receive any additional information regarding the situation with AT&T’s network throughout the day today.

Our upstream provider has informed us of an upcoming network upgrade that will take place during a maintenance window scheduled for 4/19/08 between 3am EDT and 7am EDT. During this time, you may experience very short periods of intermittent access to your website and email, although we do not expect any noticeable impact on our connectivity during the maintenance window. We will be performing upgrades on server 8 starting at approximately 7pm ET. You may experience some brief connection issues with your website and email during this time. Thank you for your patience.

We will be rebooting server 11 to finalize a memory upgrade; this reboot will take just a few moments and will be done shortly. All other servers have now been upgraded to have twice the RAM, so you should begin to notice an improvement in page loading times after this final reboot is complete.
